CGA Fruit Drive

Many South Africans are in a position of food insecurity, with hunger currently posing one of the greatest social dangers. The citrus industry would like to assist in alleviating this crisis by donating fresh fruit to feeding schemes, food banks and other charitable food distribution programmes.

The Orange Heart Fruit Drive was established in 2020 in an effort to alleviate the effects of COVID–19 on the socio-economic situation of many households in South Africa. This was done by requesting donations of fruit from growers within the Citrus Growers’ Association. Approximately 1 500 tonnes of fruit was received and distributed nationwide during the 2020 season.

Since then we have endeavored to continue with the Fruit Drive by partnering with Food Forward SA.
